Job Summary:

The Assistant Controller will be responsible for assisting the Controller in managing the financial operations of our top Pharmaceutical client in South San Francisco, CA. This includes overseeing accounting processes, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing financial data, and providing insights to support business decisions.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making processes.

Accounting Operations:

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and payroll.
  • Ensure proper recording of transactions and adherence to internal controls.
  • Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts on a regular basis.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor budget performance and variance analysis.
  • Provide support to department heads in budget planning and expense management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification required.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including experience managing teams and driving process improvements.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to maintaining high ethical standards.
