Overview: Join our client's team as an NPI principal mechanical engineer, where you will be responsible for the design and development of class I & II medical devices. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to support the production of their new line. The company’s portfolio includes specialty surgical tables for procedure-specific approaches that improve patient outcomes in spine and orthopedic surgeries along with disposable and reusable surgical patient care products.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in electro-mechanical projects, interior architecture design of electro-electrical components, and exterior enclosure design.
Sub-system design for large robotic capital equipment.
Conduct hardware design and testing to meet IEC medical safety and EMC standards in compliance with federal regulations.
Translate product requirements into innovative technical specifications and design solutions.
PCB and sub-system integration.
Design user-actuated mechanisms and electro-mechanical drive trains to articulate these structures to optimize patient positioning, surgical access, and applied traction.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
5+ years of mechanical design experience REQUIRED - (medical device development experience highly preferred)
Proven expertise in mechanical design and medical device development, specifically focusing on capital equipment.
Proficiency in electromechanical design including motor selection, couplings, bearings, gearbox design, drivetrain integration, sensor integration, and/or electronics packaging.
Familiarity with mechanism design including cams, linkages, actuators, mechanical attachments, and jigs and fixtures.
Designing and integrating PCB/PCAs into electro-mechanical devices is highly preferred.
